I'm really excited to be at 50 by 4/4/21. 1/2 way home, but no time to get complacent. I'm in Good Shape, but I have to keep Putting in the time and effort.

22) Mummichog, Fundulus heteroclitus. got the photos from Livie :D. Small juvenile female. I was thankful that it was not a mosquitofish which are also common in this spot.

Starting to feel that we are finally getting some traction for this year.

Funny, that's how it would look if I was using it for bait...

I can't dance like I used to.

You could probably get there with a $100 bill at Petsmart.

Just a couple of problems with this suggestion.

1) PetSmart doesn't have 50 species of fish for sale.

2) The last time I tried snorkel fishing there I got kicked out. They said that they would not let me pick out the ones that I wanted for them to net. So I tried to get them myself. Talk about poor customer service.

I have actually enjoyed this thread. I don't feel like its come down to just hundreds of minnows....yet. I figure that will change some soon. Maybe not though depending on what ya'll have up your sleeve.

I liked the sucker breakdown....I always wonder how many are incidental catches vs. targeted species.

I get Lucky sometimes and get a bonus fish that was not targeted ; other times I drive a long way hoping to catch a particular fish. Stuff will become more and more targeted. I have about 25 more "easy" fish to catch around me.

Before starting this quest, I created a couple of lists; probables, and possibles that make up about 75% of the target species. Then there are highly targeted species that I have wanted to catch for some time, e.g., sauger, yellow bass, winter flounder, bantam sunfish, etc.. Roughly half of the fish on my lists are minnows. Simply way more micro and mini fish available than the standard game or large rough fish not to target them. I anticipate that many of the new lifelist species that I catch this year will be minnows, darters, etc.
