I think the only species on his list we didn't manage to find was a Goldeye. I was catching them at this time last year...but for whatever reason, I haven't caught any in the creek since April. Totally killed it on Bullhead on a fly (took about a minute), Goldfish on a fly (from 2 different places!), Koi on a fly, Grass Carp on a fly (5!, plus one on an ultralight rod!), Redear on a fly, Shortnose Gar on a fly, Golden Shiner... 👊 We even took about a 4-hour early afternoon break! It was amazing this all happened in just one day! The fish are still wondering, "What just happened?" 😄 I do ok. FishnDave 1 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. Most times a big gob of worms works wonders 🤣 Used to use them kokanee fishing in Washington. Couple of maggots and a single red salmon egg on a #12 hook. Johnsfolly 1

There were some big ones cruising around the shallows on one of the local lakes this spring, supposedly they are sterile, but looks to me they at least go through the motions. If you're interested next spring I'll let you know when they are in there, and it you've got a fly they'll eat that would be neat to see you hook one of those submarines in 2-3 feet of water. Thanks Jeff. Now I just need to plan a trip to Washington. Do you know anything about fishing around Portalnd OR? I likely to be out there (COVID pending) in Nov for a conference. Not sure if I would have any time to get out, but intel is always great to have.

I'm pretty good not catching more. Here's a good example of the crap they can do when trying to get away. I can struggle to tie a knot this well 😅. Terrierman, Quillback and bfishn 3

Did not fish around Portland when I lived out there it was 4 hours from my house and there was lots of fishing available closer to home. If you can get a day to fish and want to go with a guide, there should be some sturgeon (green and white) fishing somewhere around Portland. I don't know any of the guides there, but here's an example: Portland Oregon Sturgeon Fishing - Columbia River Fishing Adventures I used to fish for sturgeon further downstream on the Columbia out of Kalama. Even a rube such as myself could catch 30-40 a day, they used to be pretty abundant. One thing about November in that part of the country is it is the rainy season there, bring your raingear. Ham Posted July 30, 2021 Author Posted July 30, 2021 85) Longnose Gar ; This one was a Long Time coming. I broke a Big one off in heavy current in Oklahoma. Hung several in Strawberry River. Missed chances. I honestly believe flyrod might be the best way for me to catch them. This fish was on fly. @BilletHead ties a Good Clouser Minnow and is a constant inspiration to pick up the long rod. Johnsfolly Posted August 1, 2021 Posted August 1, 2021 Livie #80 Inshore Lizardfish, Likelyfishie eatitsownyoungus We kept this guy for cut bait, which worked great to catch about a dozen more lizardfish😅. Including this one which I caught while trying to catch a flounder (JF #102). FishnDave 1
