You have to start asking if using a live scope (use hunting terms) violates the ethics of fair chase. To me it is starting to become like using thermal imaging and night vision goggles to hunt deer. I understand that you still need to put the bait in front of active fish, but you are able to eliminate all of those spots where fish are not very easily. That will greatly increase localized fishing pressure. Just some thoughts.

I agree with this. It's almost too easy if you use it too much.

I don't know what system this guy had, but when snagging a few years we saw a guy with what looked like a 12 by 18 inch screen. Even from a distance we could see paddlefish on his screen. Once located he would run directly at the broadside of each fish. There were 6 folks in the boat. They had three tied to the boat when we got there and snagged at least 8 while we were in the same location. We ended up with two and I failed to snag a single paddlefish.

Yeah we’re catching too many too often.  Let’s turn it off😂

I like crappie meat hauls if I'm being honest lol. It will be on forever!

Please school me.  I have been reading and looking at videos of Garmin and Lowrance live scope.  It looks like I’d have to spend two to three grand to get into it.

I have Humminbird units and they are supposed to be coming out with their version this spring so I can get setup with the cost of the transducer only.  All I have seen is crappie fishing.  I don’t fish for them very often.  Do any of you who have it use it for species other than crappie?  If so how do you use it and what are you targeting?

When you say shallow.... how shallow?

Very similar to how we cat fished with a guide on the Mo river.

Would check the ends of wing dikes. He would drop a GPS when he spotted a fish on side scan. Pull up on the dike. Measure GPS and direction and cast. Then use line counter reels to approximate distance.

He said if no bite in 15 minutes we'd move because he was 95% sure he was on them.
