Yes it is. Mostly Snook & tarpon, sometimes some cobia, pompano & seatrout. It sucks on the back side of Sanibel/Ft Myers area because of all the pollution coming down the Caloosahatchee out of Okeechobee. Points north and south of the poison plume are still very good.

Yep that was my experience at Ft Myers, Red tide ruined my last trip.  The east coast has a bunch more species in the canals for year round fun seems like.  Red fishing is outstanding on the east coast too.  Compared to the east coast the west coast isn't as good.

Just sold a condo on Ft. Myers Beach. Fishing there has sucked so I haven't been inclined to visit. It was a minor cash suck for the last 5-6 years, but we did get a good price for it. Prices are silly high because rates are so low... 1.9% on a 15yr, 2.75% on a 30yr. Virtually free money if you have an income and good credit..

I really like the ozarks but these winters are getting old.  The plan in retirement is to head south for a month or so every winter.

ditto.  probably full snowbird status for me. texas or florida

I enjoyed Port Aransas TX more than any time I ever spent in Florida.  We were thinking of going to the Keys earlier but took a pass until we and the folks we were going to go with got vaccinated.  That's happened for us now, so who knows where we will go when.  We're all itchy to get somewhere warm for a few days.

Mary loves winter.  She loves snow and ice, and short days.  I'm just the opposite.  If we had her wish, we'd live in Montana full time.  If I had my wish..................well, heck, I kinda like it the way we have it.  We plan to visit a warmer clime sometime during the winter from now on, for a week or three.  We have friends, a couple who are childless like us, and they go to Florida for however long they feel like it, taking a camping trailer and just moving from one area to the next whenever they get tired of the spot they're in.  We just bought a camping trailer ourselves, and next winter we plan to go with them and stay as long as we wish, which may not be as long as they do.  Our friends call us a couple times a week while they are there, since we're kinda their designated "let you know where we are".  They had planned to come back to Missouri last week, but saw the forecast and decided to stay in Florida until the weather up here moderates.

I grew up in mobile Al, I could ride my bike to fish dog river that emptied into mobile bay...family moved to Joplin in the mid 70s right on shoal creek, got to fish for exotic smallmouth, Kentuckies and rock bass...lived near Joplin until the early 2000s got divorced and moved to San Antonio for a few years, came back here in 2011.....the Ozarks are not what they once were, the influx of people has hurt our area, yet people are pouring out of areas in the news to move here exacerbating the problem issues we already have.....it is a myth it is cheaper to live here, food, cars and most consumer goods were noticeably cheaper in Texas....however it’s hard to enjoy the outdoors there as it takes more planning...fishing or any outdoorsy activity just takes more work to make happen

MONKEYS? what monkeys?

My wife hated Florida, other than Partying with the Cubans.

I spent time in Mc Allen Texas it was actually cold. I was told this was very unusual.

Time I remember driving 73 HWY seeing the sign for Lead Mine. Little did I know one day I would live and over time found it was me.

Remember when I met my Ex we travelled to Lebanon to visit her family. Back then it was a trip.

Years ago I had a hunting trip in Arkansas decided to go down 5 HWY and cut across 64 HWY to Bennett Springs, camp and fish there. At the time found it exciting just the drive. Now live on 64 HWY close to the park.

Interesting how the Lord finds a place for His children.
