ollie Posted March 16, 2021 Posted March 16, 2021 Heck, back in the day my family would do that. Not sure when they started with the in possession law, but I can remember many times back in the late 70's and early 80's my dad would haul us to Taney and we would stay a couple of days and limit out each time. Then we would head home where he would clean them and put them in the freezer. Lather, rinse, and repeat for several weeks. We probably had over 100 in the freezer at any given time. I don't keep any anymore. I can remember the last time we fished together and it didn't go as planned. We were on Capps fishing and I was having a stellar day. He was not and he got mad because I was letting them all go. He ended up just leaving early and he didn't want to fish with me again after that. Sad but true. fishinwrench Posted March 16, 2021 Posted March 16, 2021 When my oldest kid still lived here we could stockpile whites and crappie. But now I'm the only permit holder in the house, so I have to wait until we eat some to replenish. I'd rather get all of my fish cleaning out of the way during the Spring, and then C&R the rest of the year.....but technically I can't. snagged in outlet 3 and tjm 2

I thought about calling the authorities on a guy that has hundreds of crappie in his garage freezer. He was so proud of them🙄. What a loser. I still think about it since I bet he still does it. "He donates them to the church fish fry". Like that makes it ok??!!! The Lord loves a cheerful giver.
awhuber Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 They do several road blocks a year stopping folks leaving the camp ground at Montauk. They write a lot of tickets each time for possession limit violations. snagged in outlet 3, Daryk Campbell Sr and MoCarp 1 2
tjm Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 Do they keep track of many times the same guy leaves and comes back? MoCarp 1

Seth Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 Maybe it's because I fish so often, but I rarely freeze fish. I'd rather keep what I can eat in a few days plus give away to a few others so they can have fresh fish instead of just freezing it. I'll keep a gallon on hand in case somebody wants to have a fish fry and that's about it. Just like with venison, there are always people out there craving some fresh fish fillets so it's not hard to get rid of. snagged in outlet 3, BilletHead and Terrierman 3

Giving away fish doesn’t take them from your possession limit, you are supposed to label your catch with name/date....be better served catch and release for bigger fish and buying the family that needs food hotdogs for a buck or a long John silvers gift card....too much harvest pressure on all waters anymore MONKEYS? what monkeys?

That's just what lazy overweight folks need. Hotdogs and fast food? Nothing wrong with the occasional fish fry. Our waters are managed pretty good here in Missouri. Then again how many boneless fillets count as a fish?
