There is a search for a missing kayaker on the James south of Nixa. He was last seen attempting to get back on his kayak near some downed timber.

Oof.

The new kayakers don't have respect for cold fast water. Here is the result, unfortunately.

That the truth, its changed a lot with all these sit on top Kayaks.  My brother and i used to just itch for a flood no matter is it was middle of winter or summer.  I remember plenty of times putting in on the Finley when it was flooding pretty bad with snow on the ground.  We had whitewater boats and dry suits. Ill never forget the the brain freeze you would get when you would have to roll.  But Adrenalin helped a lot with that, you just didnt want to have to pull the skirt and go for a swim.

Too bad common sense is something a lot of people don't have. Sad in this case because it could have been avoided like so many other times on the river.

There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!

Really sad when people die doing something they love. On the other hand, what better way to go? I had a golf pro buddy who went out one Sunday morning, shot a 68, came home and sat down in his recliner to watch football, and died.
