They are there! When I used to bow fish wading in backwaters you would see them. Cute miniatures of the adults.

Might make a neat aquarium fish, until they outgrow it.

I bet inside the house they would be. Put a couple in Pat's koi pond. Bad thing had a couple voracious bass and green sunfish in there too. Well, the poor little gar had no trash floating to hide in and they did not last long.

I've always thought about doing a native fish aquarium deal, but I'd stick with species that didn't grow very big.  I could just follow Ham around when he is creek fishing to gather some fish.

Probably will never do it, mainly because I don't want to invest the time into it would take.

Should get @Flysmallie to add something on this. I know he has and does this.

I've had a number of "natives" in aquariums over the years.  Got rid of my last one, a 150 gallon, 6' long tank, when the light caught fire.  Fortunately my wife saw it happen and put the fire out with an extinguisher.

At one time or another, I had Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike, Musky, baby Shovelnose Sturgeon, Shortnose Gar, Walleye, Bluegill, Green Sunfish, Crappie, Bullhead, Channel Catfish, etc.....and also Peacock Bass, baby Snapping Turtle, baby softshell turtle, baby Painted Turtle, Pacu, Pike Cichlids, Oscar, lots of other cichlids, mostly South American.

I have never seen a baby gar, or one under 2 feet long for that matter.

We've seen but never caught 3 inch chain pickerel in one of the spots that I took Ham when he was in DE.

I need to add a little life into the one in my office. It's 90 gallons and is currently hosting 1 gill, 1 minner, and 1 crawdaddy.

My plans are to add some other minnows at some point and another gill or two. On the wish list is a logperch or two and a grass pickerel if I can find a small one. And I would take a little catfish if it came along. No way I add all of those, I'm not an idiot, but we will see what happens when it gets warmer. Would also like to add some type of natural weed but I'm not sure if that is going to work.
