Fisheries technician position open here in Bella Vista, it's working for the POA so it is somewhat of a government job.  Don't know what it has for benefits.

Recruitment (adp.com)

In your case of not having a degree, it's going to be tough to find a job that pays well in the fisheries management sector.  You'll end up competing against people that have degrees in that field.

If I was younger and not married I would go back driving OTR.

Good pay and wake up in different area every day.

If your 1/4 done with an Mechanical Engineering degree I would focus on a degree like manufacturing technologies that isn't full blown engineering.

My experience only but lots of rural America manufacturing facilities look for people with engineering qualities + real world knowledge without a degree that they can avoid paying engineering wages too. Its not right but its the reality.

Those people are few and far between, most degreed engineers cannot weld or work on production equipment or want to in a work environment. Most maintenance guys cannot or do not want to do things like prep power points for cost savings or design manufacturing fixtures.

Most companies don't want to pay for a manufacturing engineer(60k+) but would gladly pay 45k and benefits for someone that can handle both maintenance and engineering. Lots of these positions exist and are taken by guys that are 55+ without a degree and they "worked" up through the company to their position. When they replace them they look for degrees but they don't really want those people if they can find someone who fits the bill.

I know Sedalia has several places like this at a minimum.

Life takes many paths.  When I was 27 I was a cable TV installer Mon-Fri, a fishing guide on Sat-Sun, and wanted to be a pro fisherman.    I was broken hearted, at the time, when that didn't work out, but I'm sure glad now! 😊

Cable TV most time is Subcontractor get messed over. Worked for Johnny Morris and Guys hated the fishing. I passed up Job going ahead of TV Hunters setting up. It would have been a good Job traveling but would have been gone all the time and didn’t want that.

I know you don’t want Welding but Paul Mullers in Springfield is hiring $1,500 sign on.

It was piece work for us.  We got paid a certain amount for every pole climb, house wrap, wire fish, and additional outlet. And the rate for each task was plenty generous.  If you wanted to make more money you just worked harder/faster/longer.

About the only thing that would cause me to come up short of money was if, after calling and setting up the appointment,.....a gal would answer the door in panties and a T-shirt..... Because you knew the rest of your day was shot after THAT!     😲

In a nutshell prime driving school, say on the road make bank in 2 years you are golden

I know a couple neighbors that drove for TDC. Both of them hated it, only did it for the money.

There's an older retired guy that helps us part time, drove for years, spent the last few for Walmart, said he was pulling six figures, but with the tracking and monitoring on the trucks now, he would never go back, and he only stayed for as long as he did to pad his retirement.

The way I understand OTR trucking, you've gotta put a few years in and jump around between companies before you really start making some money.

I am too nervous and high strung to ever do it, just driving my car through the city stresses me out.

Thanks for the input.

Of the small dent I made in that engineering degree, none were actually engineering related. The first two years are pretty much the basics to get you started, thermodynamics, physics, fluid power, all of the stuff that actually pertain to the discipline are in the last two years.

If I remember correctly, I was only a handful of classes away from getting the AS in engineering, but that is an essentially useless degree that really only gets you acceptance into an engineering program, and the classes that I need are all prerequisite to each other, so it would take several semesters since they could only be taken one before the other.
