I was able to start fishing week days in 2013. I think  every other trout fishing elderly person retired the same week. Crowds have definately increased . Parking lots are full especially at Taneycomo. Most times at Taney, Missouri license plates are in the minority.

Taney has way more fisherman and visitors in general than ever before.

Taney gets more stocked trout than th entire state of Maryland. Hell yeah I would rather go there to fish😉! Like fishing in the Bass pro aquarium 😅.

You forget to c&p this part....

"it will be able to accommodate a 60% increase in the number of small fingerlings ready for distribution at Bennett Springs Fish Hatchery or the Department's other cold water fish hatcheries."

Honestly, if anything.....there is a noticable 60% decrease since their production way back in 1987-89 when they had way LESS cool new $#!t to work with, and considerably less staff on the clock.

Because you're mad about the number of 12-15 inch fish they're stocking.  A 2" fingerling ain't a 12-15 inch fish, and being distributed to other coldwater hatcheries ain't getting dumped in Bennett Spring Branch.  If fingerlings are being shipped to RR because it's down, or Maramec because of parasites, you may not see a change at Bennett.  What looks like a decrease may just be those fish were shipped elsewhere.

If few fish are being harvested at Bennett, I don't see the problem.  Urban anglers are supposed to give up their fishery so anglers at Bennett have more fish to look at?

Seriously, what kinda drug do you swallow daily that allows you to so staunchly defend an organization that is undeniably failing more and more as time goes on ?

Could be a low-bid gov't contract and shoddy work has already undone some of the progress.  Could be putting 21st century technology in a 50 (?) year old building didn't go as well as planned.  Could be MDC was overpromised on the equipment.  Could be an issue training employees on new equipment. Could be repeated floods, could be disease, could be inbreeding issues, could be knock-on effects of COVID on global supply chains, could be water quality.   Could be all sorts of things, not all of them the result of gov't malfeasance.

I'm willing to entertain all possibilities, not just the ones I already agree with.

Urban trout stocking should be renamed “Feed the Bosnians”

I think Mitch is more right than he realizes.  I think part of the pushback to the urban fishing program has more to do with the people fishing there than the fish being stocked.

I can tell you that Busch Wildlife is a cheaters paradise on the cnr lakes.   Just watch on the weekends and see for yourself.   They are so comfortable keeping them they don’t even hide it.

I think they should end the the urban stocking program and just give people free tickets to outdoor shows. They always have one of those fishing tanks. It's only a dollar and no trout stamp. Looking at it objectively. It's the same thing. Just no ticks and Bosnians. Keep in mind that there is you a heavy influx of rednecks. But being a former redneck, I know what they smell like and I can avoid them.

Luck is where preparation meets opportunity...... Or you could just flip a coin???B)
