Even better if there is a fish cleaning station that they can live under, aka FrankšŸ˜

Back before Gary at Rim Shoals bought out Red Bud resort they used to have a pellet machine on their dock.Ā  Put in a dime and feed the trout type thing.Ā  Basically where the boat ramp is now.Ā  Most people fished for the small trout eating the pellets but meĀ and my buddy were chucking big ole flies in there to catch the fish eating the stockers not the pellets.Ā  I piledĀ up a body count of 20" plus fish like nobodies business....šŸ™‚Ā  All released of course.

I'veĀ said the same thing Pete on several forums. They can sample the fish easy enough to confirm. If I remember correctly the rainbow world record is a triploid.

Yep, triploid.Ā  Washington state record for rainbows was broken when I lived there, it was an escaped triploid from a fish farm, hung around the nets eating fish food until one day it made the mistake of moving down lake and got caught.Ā Ā

There's a private man made lake in Texas where they feed the bass some kind of giant shrimp and they hope to get a world record there.Ā  People can pay to fish there, but it is really expensive.Ā  I'm not a big fan of a feeding operation to raise record fish myself, but it is what it is.

To me not much different than growing the next world record deer being raised on a small high fence hunting operation. Not a fan! Any record under those conditions seem like an asterisk is needed.

Unless you're fishing wild blue lines, rivers, or offshoreĀ you are essentially fishing for hatchery-bred pellet gulpers or otherwise frankenfish. Copper nose bluegill are bred to grow huge. Cold water tolerant Florida strain bass are being stockedĀ into Northern ponds. Buddy has a strip pit here in Missouri and he bought some walleye and perch that were "warm water tolerant" and stocked them. Man is always manipulating nature..

I thought I read somewhere that the guy trying to grow the bass in TX is the owner of Tecomate Seed. In a sense he has spent his life "growing deer" so just moved onto bass.Ā

That is the guy.Ā  $4K per day on the weekend, minimum two days to fish there.
