It was a long time ago, but I don't recall a pool. They do still allow swimming that section of the river, at least based on some recent reading of park rules. Yes they had one. That is where we locals met tourist girls.

At least at RRSP, there's a chance to swim. Bennett without a pool offers nothing, unless maybe they put a swimming area on the Niangua.

I never get over there, so I didn't realize they had it. I correspond with an online group from Laclede county that includes some older folks who grew up there. They reminisce occasionally about swimming right there in that spot, swinging out on a rope hung from a tree, etc.
Ryan Miloshewski Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 Fished Bennett Springs last night and this morning before work. Did really well. Park seemed like it was in good shape, although the water was high. Lots of people down there camping and in the cabins. Reminded me why I like fishing in the fall and winter so much. How was the fishing? Any size to the stockers?

Fishing was really good this morning, good to average last night. Of course I was fishing what I wanted, not what they wanted most of the time. Even those pellet munchers like midges, though, and they ate that all morning. They were pretty good size. Biggest was probably 15-inches with most averaging 10-13-inches. Only downside was dealing with the amount of people. Hate it. Sometimes you never know what characters you may find down there at that time (yes a couple of OAF folks back in 2018). Ryan Miloshewski and BilletHead 1 1
Members Xraydude Posted August 4, 2021 Members Posted August 4, 2021 Who needs a pool when you have a new bird sanctuary attraction. We stopped by about a week ago. What used to be the jewel of the Mo park system is not anymore.
