Anyone that takes a boat, motor, or trailer to Blue Springs Marine should have their head examined.  Way overpriced and the service is horrible.  I make the drive to Gravois Mills and have Wrench deal with the problem, if he hasn't already told me how to fix it on my own.  Some repairs are above my abilities.

I hope they didn't shortchange you!

$1469.38 for normal five year maintenance service on an Evinrude G2.

According to Wrench it shoulda been 2.5 hours labor tops.  They charged me for 7!

At $140 an hour.

They doubled up on some parts prices as well.

There's so few places to choose from to get Evinrude's serviced now that they were the closest.

Trust me, I'll remember next time.

Coulda towed the boat to about anywhere, stayed a couple nights and played some decent golf courses for what I paid these bandits.

Guess I should have inquired around the forum first.

Expensive lesson learned.

I don’t know why they would send a check to you if they give to the poor..... 😃

Guilty as charged - wish I woulda known to ask you first!

Actually I checked with Wrench and he didn't see any reason for me to make the drive all the way to his place for such a basic service.

Now we both know better!

Of course if Johnny hadn't torn up his Evinrude contract and gone exclusive Mercury a year after I bought the boat I coulda had it serviced at Cabela's where I bought it in the first place.

Ten minutes from my driveway.

Sounds like a solenoid.   Pretty easy to put on.  Take a pic of the old one before you disconnect the wires.  Put a new one on.  If you want to check it turn your key to on.  Run a wire from one side of the solenoid to to other.  If it turns over you know it is the solenoid.

That's what I am thinking (hoping). It clicks when I hit start but maybe it just isn't relaying the power properly and needs to be replaced.

What’s a fair price for a yearly oil change and lower unit grease change.   No impeller.

Book says 1 hr. Labor plus parts. I was out in about 30 minutes but still got the labor charge of 1 hr.

Took the prop off first and started the grease draining, changed the oil and filter while that was happening. Refilled the grease and tightened the prop back on and that was it.

Total wrench time 20 minutes MAX.  $249.00. Parts and labor.

Im just old and don’t know what things cost, but at the Chevy garage oil change, tire rotation and grease is $59.00 and it takes a heck of a lot more time.
