Years ago I was at Cabela's and a guy checked yes on the domestic violence box. He was upset he couldn't buy a gun.

It's a yes/no answer.  I answer "no" as I  don't use marijuana or any narcotic drugs, but I would bet if someone checks "yes" their application will be denied.  

If marijuana is legal, and you are not addicted to it, then no is an acceptable answer..

But it's not legal anywhere in the USA under Federal laws, and they trump State laws, if you use it you are an illegal user. The USA does not recognize medical use. That said most law breakers are used to telling lies and breaking laws so no big deal to swear to another little perjury.

Well I was sober when I bought the weapon, I didn't intend to use illegal drugs in the future your honor. I was in denial regarding my addiction, I relapsed after years of sobriety, my wife put weed in my brownies, my doctors say I need to take 10 bars of Xanax a day! Blah, blah, blah. Its a silly question that inspires even sillier debate.
