Bassin4fun Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 I am consistently catching some quality fish at Lake Springfield. You can definitely catch numbers out there and there seem to be plenty in the 2-4lb range too. Some of these likely went 5lbs...maybe more. I have also caught several small spotted bass. dan hufferd, Quillback, Johnsfolly and 6 others 9

curtisce Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 I haven't fished there for some time. Never came up with anything like those. I drive an hour to go to any of the big lakes and I my house backs up to Lake Springfield park. Guess I better get down there. Do you launch by the dam or by the boathouse? The answer may not lie at the bottom of a glass, but you should always check

I launch from the boathouse area. I typically run a couple of areas....from dam up to railroad bridge. I run different baits/patterns. Mostly, I focus on the grass beds and laydowns. I may start trying some patterns in deeper water to target fish that arent holding structure I can see. Will take some time to figure out. I have been catching them on a wide range of baits though...buzz baits, crankbaits, topwater walking baits, jigs, worms, and spinnerbaits. Depends on weather and water clarity and time of day. Been fishing Lake Springfield quite a bit...only 10 minutes from my house. Will hit Table Rock tomorrow and Pomme de Terre Sunday and Monday. I caught 5 bass this morning on Lake Springfield with one that measured 19.25". One was 15" and the others were smaller. BilletHead, curtisce and Quillback 3
curtisce Posted September 16, 2021 Posted September 16, 2021 Well, @Bassin4fun you have done well and inspired me to give it a try. went twice, had 2 keepers along with several shorts. Next time didn't do well at all. caught most on the wacky worm or other type of bottom bait. Seemed like they were slow you had to let it sit awhile but once they took it they held on to it. The bait fish were out in the channel on the surface so maybe soomething swam out deeper would work. too late now I pulled the paddle john off the trailer. It's at duck camp now with my layout boat on it.
