    @oneshot or @oneshot 1,

             Not trying to derail your post. When you want help retrieving or shooting those tasty rodents off your porch give me a call :). I'll even help ypu clean them if you do a head shot. No gut shot for me.

     Lets finish up this cooking deal. Falling off the bone tender I picked the meat. Netted three pounds two ounces. Mixed a bit of fat into it and it is ready to use for a dish or two or three. Strained the broth for later use too. More brazing or as a soup base. I am thinking some wild rice, celery carrots and a hand full of the squirrel for soup at the moment. thumbnail_IMG_20210915_185632709.jpgthumbnail_IMG_20210915_185636761.jpgthumbnail_IMG_20210915_191504202.jpg

No Head shots here. I know from the Bench I can hit a Dime but I have nothing to hold the front of the Rifle and it is a bit tricky.

As matter fact the second one as I pulled the trigger the Rifle was almost on its side.

I'm actually surprised that Billethead is not a squirrel brain eater.

Honestly, I don't even bother with the front legs of those little grays.

   You know I don't waste meat on squirrel or turkey. Grandma Margot was a Brain eater I am not.

My Ex said I Head Shot just to PO her. That was back when I had a Single Shot.

Open Sights, no Scope. Used it Coon hunting with Shorts.

Sold the Rifle for $25. Still kicking myself.

I kept my dad's mossberg .22 mag rifle. My mom sold my dad's Colt .22 mag squirrel revolver and his 16 ga side by side double barrel shotgun. Regret not pushing to keep both of those guns.

Grandpa always got pissed at me.  I was a crack shot with the 22, always a head shot.

Growing up, he scattered them with pellets from a shotgun.  More wasted meat from the damage.

I never faulted him for liking the chicken backs.  I realize now in my older age why he liked the fatty part of meat.  But I never figured out the brains.  Never eat head cheese either.

I have to from time to time, run outta room to store them.  As long as I don't run out of chances to buy them, I am happy......
