I figured that in order to get your "degree" you had to answer the test questions in the way you were taught to.

My bio degree didn’t include all the animal stuff.  It was focused on biotechnology.   You know, growing organs from stem cells.   It just doesn’t pay as well as selling steel😂

Since the threads already been jacked...speaking of steel.  I was in Fredonia, KS this weekend to open bird season and saw a steel shop I'd never noticed before.  RKS Steel.  they had inventory piled all over.

Encouraging to see, seemingly thriving industry, in a small KS town.

I have a degree in biology BTW.

Hey!  Me too! :)  Went to Iowa State University for Genetics....but quickly changed my major to Biology.  Took so many  of the "animal" classes that I got a Minor in Fish & Wildlife Biology.  Which is why I've been doing CAD work for civil engineering companies for @ 25 years. 😅

During college, I worked at a pharmacy, and did walleye aquaculture research in the college labs.

I was in pre-med then realized I don't like sick people. 😂 I switched to a new certificate program in Biotech.  Should have finished two classes for my chemistry degree in addition to it but my wife got sick and I had to quit school.  That's why I sell steel....😁

I started as a materials engineer but weeded out by Fortran and my engineering classes. Enjoyed my metallurgy lab. Tested tensile strengths of various steels vs aluminum when heated and then when cooled with liquid nitrogen. Looked at grain structures of various alloys, etc. Then ended up in biology/ecology. Collected and identified and enumerated microorganisms from thousands of lake samples.

My daughter is in her last semester at Rolla and one of her classes is mechanics of materials.    My favorite lab was genetics. We grew fruit flies and selected for specific traits.  Most chose eye color.  I grew a whole colony without wings.   Easier to count and keep in the aquarium 😂

I remember separating males and female fruit flies for genetics lab. I did like the apterous or wingless flies as well as the white-eyed flies and running the crosses. Wasn't fond of the smell of their diet but using the ether was a bonus sometimes 😉. Not even sure what they use now to knock out the flies to allow you to separate them. You can buy apterous flies as frog and reptile live feed and get breeding kits.

I fed them to my dart frogs…used instant potatoes and grape juice with a dash oh vitamin powder….just don’t mix Turkish gliders with wingless

MONKEYS? what monkeys?
