LittleRedFisherman Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 Last Sunday was a banner day for my son and I. My father In law had a birthday and wanted to spend a night at the blue bank resort on reelfoot lake. My wife had it all planned and I didn’t know if I could go till we got the harvest completed last Friday. So Saturday we went up there and fished some and spent a night there by the fire and eating well. The next day we went back out on the water and we were starting to figure out the Crappie and caught a pretty good mess of them. We left that afternoon and got home about 2 o’clock and my son was all over me to take him deer hunting as it was you season here in Arkansas. I wasn’t overly fired up to do so as I was kind of tired but I was going to take him anyway of course, anyhow we got in the stand it wasnt there 10 minutes and started seeing action. We watched the same group of deer for about 30 minutes thinking they’re not going to get close enough, but about that time a buck came out From our left side And presented a shot a guy would take any day and twice on Sunday lol. Anyhow my son got the deer and we had a great day and weekend in Gods creation. Hard to beat slabs and deer in the same day! God bless Bret. MOsmallies, SplitG2, tho1mas and 17 others 17 3 There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!

Quillback Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 Good stuff, glad to see you folks are getting time to get outdoors. Last time I saw my uncle he was telling me about how he was a kid, my grandpa would take him over to Reelfoot. There was no bridge then, so they'd drive from Kennett and take a ferry over the Mississippi and then drive over to Reelfoot. They'd get there in the evening, fish all night at some dockhouse deal where they had lights over the water, then they'd take their boat out in the morning, fish all day, then head home in the evening with a cooler full of crappie and bream. No sleep except a nap of the ferry on the way back. Just like my uncle remembers that stuff from the 50's, your son will remember the day you had for the rest of his life, which is pretty cool.
