fishinwrench Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 My old St.C Legend Ultra 9' for 7 White bass rod is suffering from too many days in the sun, the cork is really hard & dry. What can be done to add some moisture to a piece of cork. I've thought about soaking it in Aloe lotion or something.....But is that gonna do any good? It's a wonderful rod, and it can't be replaced. Anybody know?

Flysmallie Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 Automotive wax works pretty good. The old paste waxes seem the best. Just rub it in. Daryk Campbell Sr and fishinwrench 2

Why don't you just buy some new cork rings and replace the old stuff? One google search turned up a shipload of sources. Or is that skill above your paygrade?😵

I feel like it needs something that will soak in and expand the cork..... but not immediately evaporate. It just has no moisture left in it. It's as dry as a potato chip. Hasn't started chipping off in chunks YET but it probably will before long if I can't "rehydrate" it somehow. I feel like car wax would just coat it and dry out.....but I don't know. 🤔

I was just wondering if there was something I could soak it in (glycerin or something) that would bring it back to better condition.
Dutch Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 Shrink tubing covers lots of stuff and is easy to clean.
