Johnsfolly Posted November 24, 2021 Posted November 24, 2021 Thanks @BilletHead. For a fly guy you post a lot of bait fishing videos😁. Never heard of slinky weights but will make a bunch after seeing this video. We don't have an abundance of suckers here in MD but that setup should work for lots of different native species😉. nomolites 1

Flysmallie Posted November 24, 2021 Posted November 24, 2021 Cool video! Now I need to target some suckers. Seems that slinky weights were a thing around here in the early 90's maybe. I remember using them a bunch for a period of time. They worked good on the lakes but I hadn't quite moved over to the rivers yet. BilletHead and Johnsfolly 2
Quillback Posted November 24, 2021 Posted November 24, 2021 Slinkies were popular in Washington for steelhead and salmon fishing. I used pencil lead myself, get some hole punch pliers, you can snip off whatever length of lead you need, flatten one end, punch a hole in the flat end and hook your swivel up. Snaggier than the slinky, but a lot easier to make. I would use a baitcaster too, that way you can thumb the spool and let line out to let your stuff slide down with the current. kjackson and Johnsfolly 2
Members ivegotafever Posted November 24, 2021 Members Posted November 24, 2021 They are used extensively up north to catch fall muskies. People pay good money for them
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted November 24, 2021 Posted November 24, 2021 That was enjoyable. Thanks.
