Smalliebigs Posted November 30, 2021 Posted November 30, 2021 I stumbled into a new Winter hole the other day and threw a MB Trick Darter 85 in Mat Shad for the first time ever. All I can say is WOW!!! It don’t get all that deep but, it gets bit. I can hardly wait to get back out there 🙂 nomolites, Johnsfolly, FishnDave and 4 others 7

Flysmallie Posted November 30, 2021 Posted November 30, 2021 Just now, gotmuddy said: they are megabass hooks, barb is on the outside Oh I know how megabass usually does it with that crap design but it's hard to tell in that pic if they have any barb at all.

When I say just about it’s because I have hooked myself very deep several times with these and have been able to pull them out pretty easily with a quick and sometimes painful tug lol. They stay pinned to fish though you just can’t play the fish like you’re WWF, you have to finesse them a bit. nomolites and Daryk Campbell Sr 2

But they drop in the trash just fine. Daryk Campbell Sr and Smalliebigs 2
Quillback Posted November 30, 2021 Posted November 30, 2021 Don't like them either, I always change them out. They are brittle too, real easy to break getting them out of a fish. Smalliebigs 1

Yep I have broke them before no doubt but, have grown to love them for Winter Black Bass, which are more or less a wet sock to reel in lol. I treat these hooks more like a delicate net that I am throwing at the fishes face hahaha but I will put my hook up rate and keeping’em on against anyone. I don’t use these hooks other than the Winter. When fish are feistier I use lots of other blades. Quillback 1
jdmidwest Posted December 1, 2021 Posted December 1, 2021 The smallies in TN have been hitting a purple senko the last time out. Never toss a purple to a smallie, but had one on. Winter bass are goofy, hit and miss as to what they want. Must be the clear water. snagged in outlet 3 and Quillback 2 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
