There are 2 ways to "pass" one....

1. Be truthful from start to finish, no matter what you are asked.  (This is how you pass if you have nothing to hide)

2. Be careful what you say before, and after.    (This is how you pass if you're being deceptive or shady).

The spoon and string are merely props. it's psychological.    It could be a tie-strap, lamp cord, and a glass of water....or a piece of wire, some tape, and a chainsaw file,......or a techy looking machine that allegedly monitors heart rate, chest expansion, and body temperature.   All 3 of those "kits" are performing the exact same task.

You are being psychologically coerced into VERBALLY disclosing an untruth.

Works pretty good on the simple minded.   And most criminals are pretty shallow in that regard.

My plan is to never need to lie on one so I don’t have to worry about them.   Lying about fishing locations on forums doesn’t count right?😁

You can always tell when someone is telling a fishing fib.  They downplay it ever so slightly, and use an equal number of words, or more, to describe the atmosphere they were in when they caught it.

Anytime there is cascading riffles,  painted skies, and squawking herons...... there's going to be an imaginary TOAD involved.  🤣

Right, Al?

Well why'd you press the issue then?

Feeling me out, ain't ya?  😊

So let's hear your take on it.   Am I totally full of $#!t..... or disclosing a tidbit of guarded knowledge?

Because I don’t know anything about them.

no not feeling you out.   You sounded like you had experience with them.

Yes, you are totally full of scat but I knew that already.  😂

I had one when I was younger. Either 19 or 20. I worked for a auto parts store and a lot of stuff went missing. All of us were sent for polygraph tests. I was as innocent as you can get but I did not care for that experience. My results came back showing I was responsible or involved. I guess that's failing. Thankfully the thief admitted it and everything was clear. I will not ever take another one.

The examiner will never tell you that "you passed", or that zero deception was indicated.   Never.     He might tell the detectives that....but he'll never tell YOU.

The nervousness or anxiety of thinking that your little box of hidden secrets has been detected is what causes people to say things that incriminate themselves.    The examiner will usually pause during the "test", adjust some things, and pretend to be having a bit of difficulty with certain answers.   It's what you say, and how you react Before, During, and After the theatrics that give clues or bring forth admissions of guilt.....or at least knowledge of the offense in question.  The "machine" isn't detecting squat
