It was like someone turned on the lights. Everything was so bright at first I wore sunglasses inside. It’s been two years and I don’t need any glasses at all. But! I have halo’s, floaters and dry eyes occasionally. I don’t need readers, I can see to tie a knot and the lure flying through the air. Same with golf. See the ball on the tee and in the air. I doubt I could’ve played golf with the glasses. No way to look through the bottom to see it on the tee and then look through the top after I hit it. I hope your other eye turns out better. Had you had Lasik prior? Seems the people I know that had Lasik prior to cataract surgery take longer to adapt or at least achieve an "acceptable" outcome and the halos tend to be a bigger issue. Are you OK to drive at night? I know a couple of guys that had terrible vision their entire lives and neither were candidates for Lasik nor could they wear contacts due to either extreme astigmatism or too thin of a cornea. Both thought they died and went to heaven immediately after cataract surgery. One had Panoptix and the other Symfony. Both tested 20/20 or better, have no need for readers and can see just fine at night. I hate 'em both! 🙄 On the other hand I know several that have had Lasik and all seem to take up to a year or more and often multiple "tweaks" before they're anywhere near satisfied. My eye doc also said that prior Lasik patients tend to have less predictable outcomes but in the end almost always are very satisfied. He also said that oftentimes it takes longer for the brain to adapt and that once both eyes have the new lens improvement can come quickly. Unfortunately I've never had a great deal of luck regarding any endeavor that required my brain to perform at a reasonable level so I guess we'll see. Pun intended. Probably worth mentioning also that those that get the basic (cheaper) single vision lens also seem to have better immediate outcomes although they will almost certainly require readers from that point on. Most of those folks that I know though had such poor vision prior to surgery that they're beyond thrilled just to have quality intermediate and distance vision without glasses and the readers are inconsequential to them. Like most everything in life I guess it's mostly a matter of perspective. My dad developed macular degeneration and had compromised vision for twenty years and was blind the last seven years of his life. I try to think back on that whenever I get frustrated that my sight isn't quite what I think it should be as he woulda given an arm to have just one of my eyes at their worst. Nonetheless, at 3K per eye I need to live a little longer than I had initially planned if I'm gonna achieve an acceptable ROI! "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." George Carlin "The only money ever wasted is money never spent." Me.

I can drive at night but the halos are distracting. I never notice until winter and short daylight hours kick in. But I had difficulty driving at night with glasses too. I was glasses free until my 50's so it was really hard to adjust to them. As all I could see were the stupid glasses and I never could get them clean enough it seemed. And my cataracts weren't bad enough to be covered by insurance. You need to be nearly blind for that. So I paid for mine too. Just under $10K. If I were to do it over I might consider the single vision a little more seriously. If it got rid of the halos but that's no guarantee either. I sure hope your other eye is better...
fishinwrench Posted January 5, 2022 Posted January 5, 2022 My wife claims that her vision took a hit from having Covid (a side effect that I haven't heard anyone else mention). I wore glasses from age 11 to age 39, and then I fell madly in love with a rodeo cowgirl that told me I had pretty eyes and kept reaching over and taking them off. After going without them for a couple months my vision began noticably correcting itself. Haven't needed glasses since, and I still pass the eye exam at license renewal time just fine. The moral of this story is:. Have sex with as many cowgirls as you possibly can. 👍 It's better than carrots! nomolites, edwin, N9BOW and 3 others 3 1 2

I think the fact that she kept pulling my glasses off instead of pulling my pants off speaks volumes. 🙄 If she had complimented other parts of me.....just imagine what I could have done. magicwormman, vernon and N9BOW 2 1
