They used to back in the 80's and some in the 90's.  Not sure what changed.

They will shut it down in someone is in trouble.  Someone on an island that's dry - I'm not sure if that's a good enough reason.  Someone in the water, yes.

I never remembered them doing it in preparation of the spring rains.

I've been on both The White and Taney when they've shut it down for emergency.  Remember that van in the water at Taney quite a while back?  I think someone on here had pictures.

I was down there once when they shut Norfork dam down after someone drove a truck down on the gravel bar below where the kiddie pool dumps in, and busted a hole in their oil pan.

Seemed like BS to me, because it wasn't going to hurt anything to start it up and drive it 100 feet without oil.    We were thrilled though because it allowed us another 2 hours of fishing time, and the initial bump dumped a bunch of shad.  It was the best 2 hours of fishing I ever had down there.

I know they always dropped the water level during the winter back in the 80's. I remember back April of 1985, the lake was 22 feet low! I remember because I caught my PB, a 9.1 oz at night on pig/jig. All my friends claimed the only reason I caught that fish is he was isolated in a small puddle of water and was starving!

Wasn't it extremely low in the mid-90's too?     It seems that I remember Table Rock getting crazy low right after the historic LMBV ordeal.

I knew it had been low before but I wasn't sure if it was on the regular and in preparation for spring.   Thx!

I'd like to see the corps give out 1 charts that they probably have the data for:

Rainfall over the basin vs. time

CFS released from the dam vs. time

Pool level vs. time

Target level vs. time(assuming this has changed)

All on the same graph from the 80's to current. I think it would be interesting.
