laker67 Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 To say I'm impressed is an understatement. I don't really call myself a woodworker, but we did make nets. Laker used capped pvc pipe for a soak tank for our strips. Do you have any idea what the final weight will be? Johnsfolly 1
laker67 Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 The is such an amazing project. The colors of that cedar are beautiful! The strip that goes along the bottom edge--how is that put in place? Is it glued? Johnsfolly 1
ColdWaterFshr Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 Yes, thats shaping up very nice! Great work. My brother finished his kayak a few weeks ago. He was stupid and trusting enough to let me paddle it around at Lindenlure for a bit while on my 3rd All Day IPA. Very fast, light, and responsive. nomolites, Gavin, BilletHead and 2 others 5

He did amazing. Glad you got to try it out. @laker67I expect to be around 50 pounds give or take. It is all glued. I milled each strip. The brown is Western Red Cedar, and the red is Eastern Red Cedar. I am curious about the nets. Did you weave the ropes or purchase them? If I'm using incorrect terminology, I apologize. I'm no woodworker myself. Just alot of encouragement from many other builders and good directions from books/YouTube/and Facebook Groups. Rick insisted they didn't make them deep enough to land his big fish. Turns out he was correct. He would never have landed that big boy. He only got 2/3 of him in the net as it was. If I ever build one, you don't get to beach it. Pick that jewel up and haul it out on your shoulders, IPA or not.
