It ONLY works for rivers/streams, and the upper ends of creek arms on reservoirs.....which is where I understood that the OP was wondering about.

A couple days of nice weather has very little effect on the lower ends of big reservoirs.

Nope.  It was a river and even the backwater was 49.5.  Probably covered 6-7 miles.
