We will have fun. It's the best time you can have.

If catching a bunch of fish that are more fun to catch than any junk trout is a horrible experience then you have no idea. all you need is a handful of clousers and a 5wt. Many limits have come on that setup.

Well I can't  cast those lead heads as well as you can, and I'd throw the things back any way.

~45-50 minutes to grove or Twin Bridges although not that many miles, the Intersection of I49 and the Ar state line.

I know there are whites in the Grand Lake, but, AFAIK they don't cross the state line.  If I ever do go for whites it'd most likely be in the Spring with a son or son in law, but it all sounds like a lot of effort when there are google eye 1/4 mile away that haven't been caught yet.

I get that if you don't want to travel. I am telling you if you want a good time and a fighting fish and closest place is the Spring River it will be worth the drive.

I'm going to let that first one slide because you have obviously never seen me cast a flyrod. I'm thinking that your skills are better than mine.

And yeah I toss most of them back too. I'd rather not clean another fish in my life so I don't keep many. But I do like catching them more than most other fish. Save those goggle-eye for summer and go have some fun.

Trying to cast a Clouser like a Dry fly or Nymph will get you hurt.....and possibly break your rod.

Keeping the line and fly moving in an elongated oval path is the way to do it.

Basically forget everything you've been taught about "proper" fly casting, and think more in the terms of throwing a rock with a sling.  👍

Nope just jammed them in. :) Maybe I should do a Clouser Christmas tree during the holidays.

@BilletHead lookin good! Curious as to where you get your fly tying materials in your neck of the woods? Order online? I'm sure you save the deer tails and bird feathers you harvest as well.

Yes keep what I need off of what I harvest mostly bucktail. Go through a bunch of white. I did a tutorial of how I prep them here on OAF a couple three years back.  Do not dye them yet and probably will not. The colored ones I have ordered or better yet hit a fly shop so I can root through the packages to get the best ones. Eyes and hooks order some and also try to support fly shops I visit. Here are a few bucktails I have done and more ratholed. Some still in freezer,
