arsenal1477 Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 Interesting trip this year to say the least. To start, the resort we have been staying at for 37 years sold and we had to find a place last minute to fish that had a boat rental. Once set and down at the lake we had to battle some crazy fronts along with bass that just were not sure what to do. We eventually found a few nights of stability in the chaos and were rewarded with some females making a trip to the shallows. If this weather can stabilize somewhat that lake is going to catch fire real quick. All bass were released where caught after a few shots with the camera. Caught on your traditional Spring attire: grubs, rock crawlers, spinner baits, salt craws. Good luck out there. Ron Burgundy, MarkG52, Bassin4fun and 14 others 17
dtrs5kprs Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 That's hardcore. Bo would have been proud of those night pics. Quillback, cheesemaster, arsenal1477 and 3 others 6
arsenal1477 Posted April 18, 2022 Author Posted April 18, 2022 Thought about him while we were out. Spent 10pm-3am Thurs night out. Best fishing I’ve seen in a long time and could hardly feel my hands…face…feet. mixermarkb, Johnsfolly and dtrs5kprs 3
willyfish Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 Like I said in another post, it is time to start night fishing again. To combat all the pressure now it really is the ticket to catching the big ones. I remember staying in Aunts when I was a kid and the cabin next to us went out at night throwing spinnerbaits. They pulled two 8 pounders out of their live well when they came in the next morning. As a kid it left quite an impression to say the least. Zulu, Quillback, dtrs5kprs and 2 others 5

Let's just say I have salt craws, black blades, and my lights packed. And black and blue Ned rig parts, of course. Johnsfolly, cheesemaster, mixermarkb and 3 others 6
Quillback Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 Night fishing is past my bedtime, but I get a kick out of seeing the fish that get caught at night. techo, dtrs5kprs, vernon and 3 others 6

I'd like to do it enough to feel comfortable with it. Not close to that point yet, but I enjoy the odd run at it. Quillback and mixermarkb 2

I will do a 2-3 AM start in the summer a couple of times on one of the BV lakes in the summer, so it's dark, but more of a pre-dawn thing. I've caught a few decent fish doing that, but not the last couple of years. I go for broke and throw big stuff, Ol' Monster, 3/4 oz jig, black spinner bait with a #5 willow blade, wobble head with a creature. I'd like to fish TR at night, but it's just too far to drive when I'm half asleep. And to your point there's the learning curve on top of that. mixermarkb, arsenal1477, Johnsfolly and 1 other 4

I've done the pre-pre-dawn thing a few times working around tournament messes. Get 8+ hours in by noon, then crash. More workable in terms of lifestyle, too. mixermarkb and Quillback 2
