snagged in outlet 3 Posted June 25, 2022 Posted June 25, 2022 I hit the river early. Lots of fish but no decent to big ones. All small but a lot of them so it was fun. Pop r and Ned did the damage. Had a real nice dark colored one come up miss the pop r. It would have rounded out the trip. I spooked two nice ones out of an eddy while getting out of the way of boat traffic. In a spot I probably wouldn’t have cast to on a plain gravel bank. I was done by 10:30 when the barbarian hoard showed up. I’ll spare you the boat ramp etiquette. 😂 evilcatfish, JestersHK, fishinwrench and 4 others 6 1
jdmidwest Posted June 26, 2022 Posted June 26, 2022 I remember a time when I used to enjoy summer. Had a blow out on way to lake yesterday, changed it on a bright sunny lot around noon. Soaked with sweat, I changed my mind about fishing. We were gonna try afternoon catfish. I am probably done till 11 Pt trip on the 11 th Terrierman, snagged in outlet 3 and Quillback 3 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. I am probably done till 11 Pt trip on the 11 th Bummer! I’m a stickler for maintenance to try and mitigate any mechanical issues but it still happens. One other thing slowing down my trips is gas prices. I’ve never dialed back trips due to fuel but I am now. It’s not that I can’t afford it’s more about return on investment. Is fishing for a few hours before it gets real hot and busy with people worth the price. Until this year the answer has been yes. Not so much this year. Johnsfolly, Brian Jones and Quillback 3
jdmidwest Posted June 26, 2022 Posted June 26, 2022 Had a shard of something in it last week on my only trip/only fish of June to Clearwater Lake, slow leak. Tires were ok, but had been looking since April for new 5.30-12's. Ordered online and waiting for delivery. Plugged the hole and took off. Made it 10 miles. The farm has been keeping me busy and doing work of 5 people at work. Jobsites scattered all over states and a million dollars of product to manage this year. Commercial buildings going up all over. Brian Jones Posted June 29, 2022 Posted June 29, 2022 Unfortunately, staying on the river until 10:30 am in the summer is REALLY pressing your luck. Glad you made it off safely. snagged in outlet 3 1
Flysmallie Posted June 29, 2022 Posted June 29, 2022 Man sure are a lot of Nancy fisherman these days. The answer whether to go fishing is always yes. My wife and I left our house at 10:30 on Sunday to go float. Were there tons of people? Yep. Did we still have a great time? Yep. It's summer, get over it. nomolites 1

Glad you made it off safely. You get 4-5 rafts tied together in a narrow area and mix in a few shoal runners doing 40- 50 mph and it gets sketchy. Brian Jones 1
jdmidwest Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 I remember having a good time on the rivers myself. A long time ago when you would only see a few boats or innertubes. Still can have it, just Fall and Winter and Early Spring. Many don’t understand that a jet boat can’t always stop or slow down while going past them and it upsets them. They don’t like the noise and commotion and sometimes it freaks out their kids and dogs. I’ve only had a jet boat for 4 years and I’ve been floating for 50 plus so I understand their viewpoint. I try and leave them in peace. So if getting up at 3:30 to drive over an hour to get on the water by 5 and done by 9-930 is a “Nancy” in your mind then I guess that’s what I am. Sometimes the juice isn’t worth the squeeze so I don’t go. Brian Jones 1
