Terrierman Posted July 7, 2022 Posted July 7, 2022 Small chrome kastmaster or the old classic red and white daredevil both still catch fish. snagged in outlet 3 1
Gavin Posted July 7, 2022 Posted July 7, 2022 You can launch a Kastmaster a country mile and cover a ton of water quickly with one. One of my all-time favorites. I always liked a Panther Martin and Shyster's better than Rooster Tails, but they are good too. snagged in outlet 3 and Terrierman 2
jdmidwest Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 I still have a collection of Wob L Rites in the box, both smooth and hammered. Copper and gold. They used to be killer. Great fluttering action. Little fishing shop in the old Call of the Wild in Poplar Bluff had them on paper cards. Each had marker prices on them. snagged in outlet 3 1 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson

There is to many for my pea brain to determine what's best. Been a long time since I have used Mepps. Rooster Tails have been the ones in my box. But, gold blades are a killer there. snagged in outlet 3 1 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
snagged in outlet 3 Posted July 9, 2022 Posted July 9, 2022 I’ll tell you what else. A rooster tail bumped along the bottom is surprisingly snag resistant.

Ham Posted July 9, 2022 Posted July 9, 2022 While there is no doubt that a Rooster Tail will catch them fish, I detest dealing with that treble hook and a squirmy trout. And the line twist that inevitably occurs even if you add a swivel to the mix. the BEST trout lure here there and everywhere is a White River Zig Jig. get some 1/8 oz and 1/16 oz Zig Jigs in White, triple olive, brown/orange. Get more colors if you’re feeling froggy. search Zig Jig on this forum and you’ll have some reading to do. But the quick version is to fish it down and across current with 6 lb line (or less) on a light action rod. that water usually has some cloudiness to it because of the water coming from the Springs, but the fish don’t care. Let the jig drop to near bottom and snap it back up. The trout usually grab it on the fall. I almost always pinch the barb down because it helps me release them easier and it comes out of me a lot easier when I get stuck by my own hook (it happens). no kidding, I’ve literally caught 1000’s of fish on Zig Jigs. I could fish nothing else and consistently catch a lot of fish. marcusearlt, Quillback and snagged in outlet 3 3 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
