Back to the OP, the Gerber Strongarm is my choice.  USA made, sturdy and thru tang blade, functional design and grippy handle.  Sturdy sheath with a few ways to attach.

It replaced the Gerber LMF 2 that I had before.  The LMF became more collectable and this one is almost the same design.  LMF 2 was designed for military use.

I used to enjoy knives of all types, even the cooking types. In regards to what you are suggesting you’re wanting, I’m a big SOG fan. Look at the Pillar. Made in the USA, full tang, and keeps an edge pretty well for a low $200 blade.

Another brand that i had never heard of until my brother bought me one is the Argali. I got the Serac and talk about light weight and very balanced.  It uses S35VN steel which they guarantee you can skin a complete elk without needing to sharpen. This has been my go-to knife for several uses. Check it out.

EDIT: Just checked out the Argali site. It’s a better knife than i had thought. Here is info from their site. Speaks volumes.

Lifetime Warranty and Guarantee

We back our knives by our 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you aren't completely satisfied with your knife, send it back for a full refund. We make our knifes to be used and abused, and if you aren't satisfied, we'll refund your money. Our knives are also guaranteed for life. If anything happens to it, we'll fix it or replace it. It's that simple.

Lifetime Free Sharpening

Eventually, your knife will need to be sharpened. And when that day comes, we will gladly sharpen it for you at no cost, for as long as you own your knife.

I think the correct term of "knife fight" involves two people with knives.  You were assaulted with a knife.

A knife can be used in self defense if someone is in the right frame of mind to realize that he has been cut.  But it takes alot of cutting to make it lethal.  And they have to know that they have been cut to stop the attack.  Drugs normally hamper that.  Guns are better stoppers.

Statistically, more people survive being shot, than survive being stabbed.    A judo/taekwondo instructor who lacked a spleen told us that.

If you have to pump a round into the chamber, it's probably too late.

HMM! Have many knives but also know I can do most things with my little Pocket Knife.

My thing is Ammo for my Firearms.  Have came to the conclusion if it gets bad kill someone with better and more Ammo.  What's the most that can happen? Get killed.

My wife has Laser Sight on her Pistol. Her Boss told her most the time put that dot on someone they will give up. YEA RIGHT!

Funny thing is she is over me when we have to check out a building she sends me in and she stays outside.  Because she don't know if she could kill someone.

I told her it is either kill or be killed.

Sir: I have exactly what you are looking for, a 119 One Line just as it left the factory in 1961 +-. I inherited this and another Buck 121 over 30 years ago and they are 100% pristine. I have followed for a few years but never got around to listing. The only issue is no box for either. I have the ability to get you good pics if there is an interest. Chuck Moore
