Slavery was still going on in 1966 as close as Audrain county Missouri.

Gov. Kit Bond was escorted to school, and home, by a slave everyday.  As were the Graf, and Sydenstricker children.

Banning something doesn't mean it just magically ceases to exist.

Wow!

Not speaking for Mitch here, but it appears that ACCEPTING REALITY happened.  🤷‍♂️

I grew up in the North County of STL in a racially changing neighborhood. Got beat up in a locker room at school by 10 of them to one of me. Had 6 friends of mine in my church murdered. All were blacks that were murdered by other blacks in drive by shootings for the guys and 2 strangulations for the girls. My friends daughter was one of the murdered. Beautiful young white girl but she was killed by a black guy and drowned in her bathtub.
So sitting around and singing John Lennon’s Imagine ain’t gonna change the reality. They have to fix their own problems.

She was a very old woman, slavery was banned outright upon the founding of Vermont in July 1777.

She said under the Law of the state they could keep her as a Slave until she was 16. This was after the war.

I was just going by what she said.

I'll tell you what my observances are.  Children are raised with no discipline by parents who would rather give them money than their time. They feed them fast food because it's easier for them, in spite of the harm to their health. Then when their kids have weight problems, they blame MCD's. If they develop image problems or become depressed they let doctors put them on medication.  They are already medicated for ADD/ADHD or whatever else will get them a 504, and advantage in school.  Yep, we slow education down and we medicate them.  If students get in trouble at school we take issue with the administrators instead of blaming our sweet, innocent kids. Kids are not getting physical exercise.  Parents enable them by not expecting them to work and allow them to spend hours on end playing video games that are rotting their brains.  They all have phones and there is pressure to share the most vulgar photos and acts you can imagine. And because parents haven't given them attention they turn to the first person who will--peers strung out on drugs who want them to share their misery, and men who tell our daughters they love them, knowing young ladies crave that attention.  Is it any wonder they have anger issues?  We are throwing them to the wolves.  Fast forward from primary school.  Parents are urged to send their kids to college where they can get a good education and make lots of money and make the parents proud!  PARENTS you haven't prepared your student for college.  And as far as making you proud?  When did this suddenly become about YOU?  You didn't care enough to help them through the first 12 years--what qualifies you to know what's good for them now???  So is it a wonder they fall for the latest ideology and liberal think tank?  You haven't taught them to think for themselves. You relinquished that responsibility.  No need to blame someone else now.  I worked closely with students for 33 years.  I made some of these mistakes with my own kids.  We just need a reset and give them our love, our time, our support, and our faith.

"Law of the state" has no foundation in reality.  Before the internet, and before the state, county, and federal government got all wrapped up in individual personal family affairs..... people did whatever they wanted to.

Slavery happened, wife beating happened, incest happened, murder happened, ect.  And guess what? It's all still happening.    The only difference is that NOW we get to hear about it immediately when it does.   Whereas before you only heard about it if it was someone that lived on your street.

Obviously the only thing wrong with the world is that the people are getting much dumber. And it ain’t the young ones that are the problem.

Well I’ll agree with you on that…the dumbing down of America is at full speed. The reasons I won’t get into.

Still waiting for @Gavin to tell me where I was inaccurate.

Kind of like a certain orange headed former President who gets names hurled at him for speaking the truth. The border sucks, the economy sucks, crime is off the charts. Also, please don’t plug in your electric vehicle in CA because of the inadequate electric grid.  Boy, how we are soooo much better off because we don’t have to put up with mean tweets.
