If it is a natural native fish progression of species movement, I lean towards it's ok. If it is a non-native potential to harm natives, I don't like it. My opinion only. Ham Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 I think guys bring them in for live bait for catfish. Enough survive to get the ball rolling. My Dad swore they were tasty. You need them to be a little larger than what I catch in Lake Barnett AND you need to eat them Fresh. The quality of the meat drops a bunch of you freeze them. I like catching them, but I don’t like this trend of them popping up places they don’t belong. BilletHead and Johnsfolly 1 1 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. bfishn Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 I didn't know there were yellow bass in Beaver... bummer. That said, I think the most likely source would have been bait dumps like Ham said. Since lots of Beaver striper guides (used to) net their shad below Grand (and other AR river tribs), I'd suspect some yellows were netted with the shad, then tossed out when noticed or when cleaning out their shad tank. I've ended up with a few yellows that way myself, but I always culled them before leaving the place I caught them. I'd never waste my time trying to use one for bait, even if it was legal. Those things are like their distant cousin the porcupine, and I doubt any self-respecting striper or catfish would eat one unless that's all there was. 😬 Quillback 1 I can't dance like I used to.
Ron Burgundy Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 Not good news , those things are thick , I caught one in TR last summer also while walleye fishing. bfishn 1 Gone but not forgotten Martin Ford

He got the report about the same time of your photo last year.
