Probably what did it, it's a loosing gamble unless you try to make it a career.  I have lost 2 of 7 this fall to hive beetles.

I had something similar happen at a place I stayed in once—looked great online, but in person, not so much. Since then, I’ve stuck with places that are known for solid basics and don’t rely too much on photos. Had a great experience recently with a 4 star accommodation Perth spot—clean, quiet, and everything worked like it was supposed to. Made all the difference after a long drive.

Give Lillys Landing a call.  Very clean cabins, reasonable rates and it's close to downtown Branson.

Unfortunately most everyone will have a sliding scale of cleanliness to affordability.  We all have different gauges within the sliding scale.   I second Lilley's Landing for cleanliness and excellent service,  but it's not Motel 6 price.
