I haven’t posted in a long time so I hope everyone’s been well! Had a banner day on the water yesterday with my good friend George.  Started off slow but around noon they really started to bite!  A few fish in the brushpiles but most of the fish, including the 3 walleye, we on channel swing banks in 25’ of water. A bunch of boats on the water, seems livescope has changed our quiet winter fishing days. Most fish came vertical jigging.

Looks like a fun day.  I dont really understand how Livescope is making the lake busier. Livescope has been around for 5 years.   I personally dont know anyone who has started going to the lake more because of electronics

Don’t disagree, but they have certainly discovered open water, and it is noticeable.  I fish primarily open water year round, and had zero competition for suspended and deep fish before FFS.  Not anymore, boats  are on suspended staging fish (mostly schools of crappie) in spring and winter where I would be the only one fishing previously.  I have scrapped some of my best trolling patterns as they are no longer feasible with these boats moving with the schools along the break lines I typically work….it’s an annoyance, but I just move on to an area they haven’t found yet.

I started seeing the increase in traffic that first spring when Covid shutdowns hit, and it hasn't really let up since. 

Spring/summer 2019 was my favorite year to date, most people stayed home because of the floods.

Roark was packed again today and I actually had a chance to talk with 2 different boats with LS. Both of them had similar responses: “Before I had LS I didn’t come in the winter because I couldn’t find & catch fish, with LS things have changed.”  I’m not dissing LS just pointing out my observations and talks with other fishermen. 
It was another banter day on the H2o!

I think eventually we will be seeing conservation put smaller bag limits as guys really hammer the crappie with the new technology.  I also wonder if the pro-FFS tournament bass fishermen will change their tune when crappie guys are filleting out 5# bass cuz they could see it on their livescope.

The biggest killer of crappie right now isn’t livescope it’s Facebook. Everyone wants to be a Facebook hero and get their 30 seconds of fame by posting pictures and where they caught their fish or where they saw other people catching fish. Next thing you now there’s 15 to 30 boats beating the crap out of a school. Most people would never take the time to find the fish if they didn’t have them handed to them. You also have the disrespectful boat hunters that see you catch a fish and think that since no one owns the lake they can come join in on the same school you are fishing. Then post it on Facebook and ruin your spot. Had that happen to me this year thanks to some bass fisherman seeing me catching fish, idling out of their way to side image what I was fishing then proceeding to call their buddy’s right beside me. Next thing you know Jeremy lawyer posts where they are and how good it is on Facebook so now the spot is ruined.

I couldnt agree any more with this.   And Yes Jeremy Lawyer must have a huge freezer or eat crappie every single day.  I follow him on facebook too and i know what ya mean

Why the heck would somebody want to clean a big bass when they are catching crappie? I sure don't know anybody that would. If we wanted bass, we'd bass fish.....
