Johnsfolly Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 Such a cool catch! Would love to see if those genetics could create a neat trophy fishing lake. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/ice-fisherman-catches-odd-looking-fish-that-was-considered-suspicious/ar-AA17d5vQ?li=BBnb7Kz bfishn 1
BilletHead Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 That is pretty neat. I seen that this morning. The photo of the back looks like a fancy koi. Daryk Campbell Sr Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 I don't understand what was "suspicious" about it. Guess just a buzz to keep you reading. Cool fish none the less. I have seen the blacknose crappie with the black line running from the dorsal down to its mouth. Never heard of the magnolia crappie. Any photos that you could share?

Johnsfolly Posted February 9, 2023 Author Posted February 9, 2023 From that article, the magnolia looks like another fast growing hybrid. This pickerel is not a hybrid but a leucistic colored fish.

Blacknose are native to the white river system, magnolias are some kind of hybrid that were bred to stock in ponds, they're sterile. I catch blacknose on Pomme quite a bit, every once in a great while on Stockton. Johnsfolly 1 -Austin
