The Spro one they were throwing is a KGB knockoff.  From what I have heard you have to get on a waiting list to get one of those KGB's.  I'm not going to do it.

They aren't "knock-offs" perse as they were a collaboration between KGB (Kevin) and SPRO. They are just an ABS version of Kevin's resin Chad Shad. Release hasn't gone to plan as there are factory issues in China that have slowed the process. But yes, all KGB baits are hard to get and also expensive. Especially if you are new to swimbaits the sticker shock is.....well....shocking

What do you all know about em?  They are catching K’s on Norman with them and the bait is 1/2 the size of the fish.

Looked online  and got STICKER SHOCK in a hurry. Geeeez prices $25.00 to SEVEN HUNDRED BIGGINS.

Have any of you all ever fished one on TR?  Looks to be about time to try it if you have extremely deep pockets.

My brother Connor has pushed "all in" on the swimbait stuff. I still have all my "conventional" tackle as swimbait guys call it but have also added a bit of rod/reel gear to handle the big baits. You have to have the stomach to do it as you aren't going to get many bites. Blanking for hours or even days can and does happen. You aren't going to have 30+ fish days on them. But when you get one it's gonna be likely a good one. There are a wide variety of swimbaits and just like any other bait they have their time and place. I don't want to call it a fad but it appears that big swimbait fishing is going more mainstream as now SPRO is mass producing them, Cliff Pace just released his own handmade glide and it seems the younger generation of fisherman gravitate towards this "style" of fishing. Bass Pro just released an XPS Swerve Glide and for $18 you really can't go wrong. For someone starting out and wanting to get their toes wet that is a cheap bait to see if it's for you before draining your savings account on some of the other high end stuff.

I have a grandson who fishes what to me is a gigantic swimbait in farm ponds up around Nevada.  I don't know which particular bait it is but it has to be 8 or 9 inches long and is jointed.  He catches some big bass on that thing.

I've had some good ones on the S-Waver glide, and a Jackall Gantarel which is a big bluegill swimmer.  My best producer has easily been the Spro Rat and it's not even close.  It's a giant wake bait, but I fish it super slow and keep it on top.  When they eat it, it sounds like someone flushed the toilet!  I went weeks without getting bit on it, and then one day had a 6 just destroy it.  I was hooked at that point.  I mostly throw it at night now, but I'm very careful around bushes and stuff like that.  Losing a big swimbait is just part of it, but it isn't a good feeling.

My best bait last time I was on Table Rock was a KGB Chad Shad and it wasn't even close. I spent 2 days fishing the standard fair with very mediocre results. Of course, I waited until the final day to pick up the big stuff and they were eating it like they were starving to death. These are a few of them, I missed many more, lost a few in route to the boat, and had countless followers.

I've been throwing the big stuff for years now, my suggestion is get over the sticker shock and just buy yourself some KGB stuff.  They are local, stand behind the product and are amazing baits.  And you don't have to be on a waiting list as previously stated, you have to get in on a "drop" or buy one second hand on any of the facebook pages for swimbaits or swimbait universe or ebay.  I have 10 or so of them and haven't gotten many on a drop you just have to realize they are an investment and they are worth every penny!
