Daryk Campbell Sr Posted April 16, 2023 Posted April 16, 2023 New species, I believe it's a Red Ear Sunfish, just doesn't have a prominent red mark. Personal best crappie in a public pond I never knew held crappie. JestersHK Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 Glad to see you getting out there buddy. I'm sure somebody will be asking to ID the bait lol Johnsfolly 1
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted April 17, 2023 Author Posted April 17, 2023 Oh, forgot that part. Two different flies that I tied. No specific pattern. Just imitating wooly bugger and a partial scud, I lost that one, so no picture. I'll upload the Crappie catching one tomorrow. FishnDave Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 Wow, way to go, Daryk! That sunfish is really interesting! Not a Redear.... Looks to be a Green Sunfish or Green Sunfish hybrid...but really colorful with unusual markings! Beautiful! Thanks for sharing those pictures! 😍 Johnsfolly, Daryk Campbell Sr and JestersHK 3
Johnsfolly Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 @Daryk Campbell Sr I agree with Dave that it is likely a green sunfish hybrid. Looks like there might a little bluegill in the mix somewhere. Daryk Campbell Sr 1
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted April 18, 2023 Author Posted April 18, 2023 The Crappie was caught on the yellow tailed wooly bugger imitation. The green sunfish hybrid was on something similar to the pink scud thing but without a bead head and a shorter tail. One day I feel great, well always some pain, but other days I get severe pain and can't move for a while. Got another surgery this Friday to remove some screws that may be affecting my I T band. I just keep trying to stay mobile. Uneven ground is still very difficult.
