Bill Babler Posted September 23, 2023 Posted September 23, 2023 Mike McClelland sold myself and Beck 6 each of these Falcon rods between 15 and 20 years ago. They were terribly expensive at the time $200.00 and Mike pretty much gave them to us. 7’ Cenderi Ti spinning. Each one of these has caught easy 1000 plus drop shot fish. I just refinished the cork grips and totally cleaned the blanks and guides. Good for another 20 years. Without a doubt the best drop shot rod I’ve ever had in my hands. abkeenan, snagged in outlet 3, dan hufferd and 6 others 9 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
snagged in outlet 3 Posted September 23, 2023 Posted September 23, 2023 I bought a cara cranker from you several years ago and I’ve caught so many fish on that rod it’s crazy. Those look slick. Terrierman and Champ188 1 1
Champ188 Posted September 25, 2023 Posted September 25, 2023 Those are the Tom Brady of spinning rods ... timeless. Not just for drop-shotting but also a very good stick for shaky head/Ned rigging, even throwing a crappie crank in the fall. Enjoy the next 20 years with those beauties! Terrierman 1
Bill Babler Posted September 27, 2023 Author Posted September 27, 2023 Not for sale. Thanks for asking. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Browning Guy Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Jim in Harrison Arkansas will be missed........ he built some of the best. Falcon dropped the contract and went to China. Just before he closed the doors, he sold me 30 Falcons built right there in Harrison. Wished I had bought more. Jim gave me a tour and schooled me on how they built them. Unfortunately, he had already let most of the employees go. Glad to see you refurbished them and catching fish!

And bought some Falcon rods (seconds) over the years from him. The gal that worked for him embezzled and took off with a bunch of money, then Jim developed dementia. There is a new guy making rods there but I don't know much about him. Tried to have him make us some rods but he's never got back to us. Browning Guy 1
Bill Babler Posted October 2, 2023 Author Posted October 2, 2023 Little more info on the rods. Mike got these for us in 2007 so they are 16 years old. The cork grade was CG1. Guides and seat are Fugi with the guides being titanium. Blank was a carbon/graphite polymer. Prices for just the components on todays market excluding the blank and the manufacturing, would exceed its 2007 selling price. The blank was also UV coated for additional sun protection. Way, way ahead of their time. Mostly used in the salt. I don’t believe this model was made in Harrison. Falcon had at the time 3 rod builders. Main one was in Harrison, but there were a couple of others. I’ll ask Mike. At the time they were priced at $199.99 to $249.00. If this rod was still being made and made in the USA it would be priced with high end Orvis and Sage fly rods. crazy4fishin 1 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
