I don't gear fish for Smallies anymore, but I'd wager 2 old school baits that would beat, or at least match the success of a Ned rig.

I still have and  use the slider heads.  The floating body of a Ned rig is pretty deadly.  The big TRD too.

I’ll agree with Al and Wrench somewhat for the religious aspect of winning a tournament but don’t know what the kid with cancer has to do with that. They might give much more money to Danny, Thomas Children’s Hospital than anybody else does, but you don’t know that.

Anyone that thanks God for a sporting win is delirious in my book. Praise whatever god or mystical being you want, but I don't think any of them have anything to do with a person winning a tournament, scoring a touchdown, or winning an award. If anything, it's just wrong.

If a god can put a fish on your line, why can't it stop a person from shooting up a school. In either case it can't, so it's just annoying and a bit abusive to your religion. 

And I'm sorry to inform all of you that the ned rig works. Always has and probably always will.

My only complaint about elaztech (or however it is spelled) is that the material is toxic, and has a strange shelf life.  I had a handful of original packages in a storage container, that had been opened but resealed, and the contents dried up and turned into something that I might have tried to smoke if I had been hard-up for a buzz.   

Can't tell you how many weird looking gobs of goo I have found clogging up bilge pumps and livewell recirculating pumps.....that were once little Neds.  They'll eat right through SeaDeck flooring too.    

Ain't nothin Holy about that stuff !    If anything it comes straight from Hell. 😅  The devil's suppository!

Of course they catch fish but you have to fiddle with a bunch of 6 inch fish to get to the bait before the 20 inches do
