Dutch Posted January 22, 2024 Posted January 22, 2024 I’ve used braid to leader off and on for a long time.  I’ve used Albright, Alberto, and uni to uni just to name a few.  Every single one of them has been prone to break at the knot no matter what size leader that I am using.  The only exception to that is the FG.  I’ve been using it for several months.  So far when I have to break off it has been at the bait. Do any of you guys use the FG? Mitch f 1
FishnDave Posted January 22, 2024 Posted January 22, 2024 Absolutely knot. 😜 Looks like a good one to learn. TRRANGER and kjackson 1 1
Quillback Posted January 22, 2024 Posted January 22, 2024 It took me so long to get tying Alberto knots proficiently that I have stuck to them.  grizwilson 1
Seth Posted January 22, 2024 Posted January 22, 2024 I tie my leaders on at home with the FG knot, but use the Alberto in the boat as it’s easier for me to tie. I don’t have any issues with either when it comes to breakage, but the FG is a little bit thinner and slides through the guides a bit better. snagged in outlet 3 1
snagged in outlet 3 Posted January 22, 2024 Posted January 22, 2024 I've never had trouble with the alberto so that's what I use. Â

Mitch f Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 FG knot is the best absolutely for fluorocarbon to braid. I will admit it’s harder to tie "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
tjm Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 Not a knot that I'll ever use, but this guy doesn't make it look hard at all  Mitch f 1
Dutch Posted January 23, 2024 Author Posted January 23, 2024 I’ve had 5 hand surgeries and am waiting on #6.  I really like it but it took me quite a while to tie.  So I decided to get the FG knot tool.  The tool helped but I kept dropping the leader tag end and I had trouble serving the knot so I made a couple of gizmos to take care of those issues.  No it just takes a few minutes to tie it.
