@Lvn2Fish I'm  curious, would you recommend that equipment for recreational angling  or do you regard it as  a tool primarily designed for competition angling? would you say it's worth while for meat angler?  5# fish would feed a family better than 1# fish

I think you have lost it . Before live sonar no one ever tried to target the biggest fish possible . What a joke . You guys are really reaching for a reason to hate this . But I’ll keep catching 5 pounders with my snotty nose using my gay techniques . You guys can keep complaining on the internet . What a life.

Talk about pulling something outta thin air ... where'd you come up with "gay" as having anything to do with my feelings about FFS? Maybe you should ask my son ... he's actually gay.

I have nothing personal against you or anyone else here --- scopers, live baiters, etc. It's a fishing forum and fishermen are never gonna agree on not just everything, but MOST things.  My concern is the same as it's been since FFS hit the market ... that we may do substantial harm to certain species like crappie.

Watch Mike Baker’s video from this past week catching crappie on Truman Lake.

Probably by far the best video I have seen on the capability of the machine and what it opens up.

He is catching crappie in open water that really previously was not touched. He simply torches suspended fish and your right with him seeing every bite.

Mike Baker without a doubt gives the most informative videos on livescope and also catfishing out there. I don’t fish cats at all and very seldom crappie but his videos apply to bass fishing as well.

If you enjoy fishing of any type you’ll enjoy Mike Baker videos.  Mostly filmed on Truman and LOZ.

Many of the guides here on Toledo Bend have switched to crappie fishing.  They all use FFS, and have flooded timber and brush piles set as waypoints.  The limit is 25 per person per day, and the guides routinely limit out for their clients.  It's interesting to watch one of the guides target suspended crappie set up on a flooded oak tree.  The crappie are so prolific that the increased pressure doesn't seem to have affected the fishery, SO FAR.

Looking forward to our 42nd annual week on beautiful Table Rock, next month!

So, scopers are doing us a favor by only catching/possibly injuring/killing fish with the potential to grow big? Not saying it's gospel, but I've read before that only about 1 in 10 LM are even genetically capable of reaching 4 pounds. So let's come up with an idea of how to target those fish and further hurt our fisheries? Yeah, that's a great idea.

So you feel that it's better to put more fish at risk of injury/death while trying to find those larger fish? No matter if you're using FFS or not, everybody is still after the same fish in the end. One is just weeding through more fish and at the same time putting more fish at risk to injury and death while trying to find those same big fish.

So you feel it's better to burn through more fish while trying to get to those bigger fish that everybody is after anyways? Wouldn't that just increase the odds of injuring and killing more fish overall?

Only on Bassmaster Live & MLF will you see guys not targeting every bass they see.  And even then.... ONLY after they have 5 four-pounders in the livewell and they are trying to upgrade their limit.

So that argument is kinda lame, don't you agree?

I'll gladly back-up my "gay as hell" classification, if you need me to.    But if you don't see it already......you will in a couple years.   I promise ya.

I don't think there is a tournament guy alive that isn't going to keep the first five keepers he boats. All I can say is if I am after numbers of fish, I'm a lot better off to leave the Livescope at home. I'll catch far more fish without, but my average size is better with it.

At the end of the day, the average size of the 5 fish you weigh-in might be.  Sure.

But the number of fish you touch during the entire day???   I doubt it.

Let's talk about how much time each fish you touch spends OUT OF THE WATER.  All of that culling and figuring out which one goes in the box......🙄
