ness Posted April 5 Posted April 5 We've been to Hermann a few times. It can be a pretty nice get away weekend. I've always been interested in winemaking, but going to wineries all day isn't for us. There are a couple wineries there that do a pretty good job with things. We rode the wine trolley there a few years back and went to a few of the wineries. At one stop an engagement party of about 10 girls got on. I asked the bride-to-be if this was her first wedding, to which I got a delayed semi-laugh. Hermann Farm there is pretty cool. They do old-school farming with Shire draft horses. They have a huge timber-frame barn, restored/rebuilt buildings, and now a distillery. Hermann is light on good places to eat. The restaurant at Stone Hill is pretty good for German food but can be hit-and-miss. Wursthaus is pretty good too. John

A bit on the wild side but not like what got the fests shut down. Great food and plenty of wine most of it too sweet. Loved the music and dancing drunks. A fun time if you want something like that. At the time we did. I've always heard the Octoberfest is a mess. We were there a while back for Maifest and stayed in one of the cottages up on the hill above town. We pretty much avoided the crowds. There was an excellent band playing in town on Friday night and we just sat on the porch and listened. Took this pic that evening: Terrierman, bfishn and nomolites 3 John
fishinwrench Posted April 5 Posted April 5 The thing that spoils any Hermann experience more than anything is that gross river. It's a shame that it is our namesake. At least Jefferson City is big enough that you can kind of ignore it. snagged in outlet 3 1

ness Posted April 6 Posted April 6 River? Oh yeah, we drove over it going into town I think. We never noticed it after that though. John
fishinwrench Posted April 6 Posted April 6 How far up does one have to go before the Missouri river is something you wouldn't be hesitant to wash your feet in ? I've only been as far up as Sioux City, and it's a gar hole up there too. A real Kamala Harris ! (Busy Ditch) snagged in outlet 3 1

With 3 of the best trout fisheries in the Maddison, Jefferson, and Gallatin, make one great body of water at the confluence in three forks Montana. Beautiful river in my opinion. It is sad looking at the frog water it’s become further down BilletHead and snagged in outlet 3 2
