During the white bass run, years ago, Cricket caught a big buffalo and insisted on keeping it. It was like butchering a hog, made a huge mess, and he said it tasted like $#!t. I choose to believe him......I ain't eating those nasty bastards!

I used to eat fried carp all along the great river road starting in Alton, IL all the way to Pierre Marquette and Grafton. They ground the carp and Buffalo up bones and all and fried them into a corkscrew shape. They are actually very good. I just looked up and saw what Pete posted….Whoever from this forum that wants to have a fun on a Sunday needs to do the drive up the great River road to Grafton and chill at Grafton for a while, then then take the Golden Eagle or Grafton Ferry back to St Charles county. Dutch
A friend of mine canned some once. He brought it to the Beaver Creek dock for some of us to try. It was just nasty.

So at one time there was actually a market for them. Buffalo Ribs are something. There was a place outside Jeff City that had them for a Friday special. Better get there early as they would always run out.

dblades
Used to fish for carp all the time when I was a kid. Mom pressure cooked them and made fish cakes. Then again we were poor white trash according to some. snagged in outlet 3

The fact that you have a cell phone, computer, and the electricity and service to support them indicates that you don't have to eat SHTF food yet. snagged in outlet 3

I guess they couldn't get one to eat that day. Really?? 47 minutes of video and no fishing? my goodness I'm glad I skipped that one.

I've read A LOT of instructional materials, spent way more time than 47 minutes reading them too. Plus sat through seminars, and not one included stories, or even pictures, of fish caught & landed. I still benefitted from the information. 👍
