6/27/24 shoal creek somewhere

Found 6, 14" to 14.5" and a 5 gallon bucket of dinks. Here are a couple examples. I was out of the kayak by 1pm.

I was thankful for the slip sinker as they just sucked up the bait, the dinks really smacked it though and had followers many times.

All in all, low cost fun, hot weather fishing.

Buzz and I went a couple of weeks ago on Shoal. Didn't do that great, but like you, we managed to squeak out a few descent ones and a bunch of dinks. We didn't think it fished as well as years past, but that was only one trip. I do know that creek is seeing a LOT more fishing pressure on it in the last 5 years compared to years past. More shuttle opportunities for boaters than in years past. Glad you had a good day out there.

Since COVID happened there has been a big kayak hatch.

Late fall and early spring seem to be the best. When cool and people don't want to get wet.

Yep. It’s crazy how many more people are on the rivers. But when school starts they all vanish.

That's ok with me, I've caught some dandies in the fall. No one was around just the way I like it. I you do happen on someone, they are probably like minded

Not all, but surely a significant number of them.  Crazy how Covid brought out so many people that weren't there before.  Everywhere there's water...

I personally think that a lot had to do with just getting out of their imposed quarantine. Also many were likey trying to make sure that they could still catch their own food if needed.

Didn't that also coincide with an influx of very cheap plastic kayaks? I don't recall seeing those hundreds of molded "boats" stacked up at Walmart and Academy  and the tractor stores in prior years.  <$200 some of them <$100 and it seems to me they were first available around that time, so I'm not sure if the biggest incentive was free time or cheap watercraft.

They were always at Academy. But I'm sure the numbers went up as demand did.
