Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted July 17 Root Admin Posted July 17 Facebook is lit up with damage from the rain this morning. We're good here - one duplex has 6 inches of water in it but we're already working on it. The lake is pretty messy. I want to go up and see what washed in at Short and Fall Creek. Hopefully no cars this time. tho1mas, Daryk Campbell Sr, gotmuddy and 1 other 3 1
Dutch Posted July 17 Posted July 17 We are on high ground here in Republic but we got 3.2” of rain in a couple of hours and there have been several reports of flooding on our streets and in the Ford dealer’s car lot. I haven’t been out so I have no personal information.
ColdWaterFshr Posted July 17 Posted July 17 Yesterday afternoon we had 3 1/2 inches of rain in about an hour here in Ballwin. The stormwater drain behind our property line, which has (2) 3-foot diameter drains, couldn't handle the volume, and my back yard and neighbors back yards, quickly turned into a 300 foot long 5 foot deep lake that flooded a neighbors basement. Fortunately, we sit high, so no damage here. Quite an extended downpour.
BilletHead Posted July 17 Posted July 17 Boys and girls think about this. In Marion county Arkansas 11 to 16 inches of rain. Can you even imagine that? Oh yeah, I've seen that a few times, run a 5gal bucket over and still raining but usually over a longer time span; and it can run off so fast that afterwards the ground is dry at an inch deep. Once stood in the door of my shop and watched it pour ~10" in one hour. Creeks get up fast in those rains.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted July 17 Author Root Admin Posted July 17 The road to our property got washed out at the bridge. This was very isolated in our area... small area got up to 8 inches of rain. We're seeing the affects on our lake. They're running some water now which I can't believe. They usually don't run it until the water down lake drops. Not complaining. It will clear by tomorrow. dpitt 1
