tjm Posted August 6 Posted August 6 So, it's been said that "there is always one"; well when you get rid of that one and look around, it's still always and you'll find that the next in line has become "the one" and you must get rid of him/her (doesn't seem to be many gals so maybe just him) and when he is chased off, the cycle repeats, until the whole dozen regular users are gone and the kicker-offer is the only "one" left to be removed. Forum means- " a public meeting place for open discussion" "Open discussion" would seem to mean that all opposing views can be shouted around. A moderator then would mean a nonpartisan mediator. It must be hard to keep that nonpartisan, impartial attitude given that we all have our own biases. dan hufferd, Huntingducks117 and Phil Lilley 3
jdmidwest Posted August 7 Posted August 7 I have met Mitch, he is a solid guy and does add content and knowledge to this place. I don't think he usually starts the fight, but does not drop it. I have met most of you in real life over the years and all seem to enjoy a good laugh. Some on here take things too seriously and feel offended, at least while online. The online things seem to disappear when we are in person. We really should not be posting about our fishing success and methods, that leads to poaching. Never mention anything about anything smaller that a huge lake, or it will get swamped with others and get over fished. So what does that leave us to discuss? rps Posted August 7 Posted August 7 All of you. Take a breath. Sometimes you must let someone walk away. Or, maybe, walk away yourself. My wife would find the comment above by me hilarious. I am not known for walking away. Still, to keep a board like this functioning for this many years, we all need to cut some slack, and not be afraid to block some others. My opinion is worth only what you pay for it. Terrierman 1
fishinwrench Posted August 7 Posted August 7 Let me just say this.... When a group of people that you like, and care about, have rather important views that seem obviously twisted to you, it's normal to just want to understand WHY. And when they either fail to make you understand, or they blow you off by insinuating that YOU are the one that has a twisted brain, and offer up no explanation that has any merit....... Then the feelings of uncertainty remain. "Is it ME that has thinking errors?....Or is it in fact THEM?" 🤔 Because ONE OF YOU is indeed wrong.....make no mistake about it ! Politics & Religion are two areas that have always spawned societal blockage. Determining Friend...or....Acquaintance, in the true sense. More often than not, trying to turn an Acquaintance that you really like....into a genuine Friend.....is what causes things like what has happened here today. So all of you ACQUAINTANCES just need to realize where you stand, and decide whether BOTH OF YOU can be content with that, or not. 😉 dan hufferd 1

Everyone is different and we need to be. This forum is colored by the differences in all of us, but we have a responsibility to not provoke a fight. Some people just like to fight, If we fight with each other on here what do we win? Are we really going to change the opinion of a combatant, I think not. I would not want to be the guy who has to filter all this in order to keep it palatable. Also realize some people can use a forum to say things they would not say in person to someone else (not any of us, but other people). I like this place and the people I have met so far. I look forward to meeting more of you. That's my opinion, no one asked for. Quillback, top_dollar, snagged in outlet 3 and 5 others 8
Dutch Posted August 7 Posted August 7 I joined this site because it was a family site for fishing and hunting. All that has gone away. It reminds me of why I quit going to the barbershop and early morning coffee. dan hufferd 1

If you don't think that tensions arise among family members when one decides they are atheist, or changes who they vote for.......then you've just never been around a family of independent people. 😅 Hell, "family" fights can happen over how much butter to put in the Macaroni & cheese.

The James River float dealio promises to be a good time for example. dan hufferd 1
