The usual group of us decided to celebrate a couple of the guys birthdays.   @gotmuddy and @Ryan Miloshewski birthday's were this week.  So, it seemed like a good excuse to have a "Fest".  Cody had recently fished with a guide who used liver to catch trout up by the dam.  Sonwe jokingly decided that would be the name of this one.

We arrived Thursday night, a few got to fish, but didn't catch a ton.  Yesterday (Friday) we split into groups and  I went with Cody and Ray on Cody's newly redesigned, no longer a surfboard boat.   We used jigs and had a great time.   The sun was brutal,  not like December.  The bugs are abundant in the evening.

The fishing was good for all of us, once Ray decided to start catching.   Cody caught the first fish, I kept a decently consistent bite Ray just couldn't buy a bite for the first few hours.  The riffle type shallow rocky water seemed to be the ticket.  You could see the fish in the calm deep water, but they didn't want to bite.

Ray spotted a long handled net someone else lost, he tried to snag it off the bottom and broke off his jig.   We are low on jigs so he had to get out and retrieve his jig and the net.

And of course we are eating very well.  Wouldn't be a Fest without food.

Looks like a great time Daryl! Recognize a lost face or too as well😉.

I will say that I have used chicken liver for the urban trout fishing just as the ice was thawing. The trout loved it. Unlike the power bait that the trout would bite and often spit out, they would just pick up the liver and swim off. Didn't take long to get a four fish limit. Problem is that three of them took the bait deep but since I was keeping them it wasn't an issue.

Got a late start this morning.  Breakfast was same as yesterday,  we decided to fish the Norfork River, they were running just under 2 units.   We rented a boat from Rose Trout dock. They were really nice, an older type local business.   They had a lift that tilted the boat on its side so it could be washed before we took it out. We took a ride down to the White River and seen some cows.

The water was moving pretty well.  Ray caught the first fish in my boat, a brown. Geno caught the next.  I was a bit nervous navigating the boat in such strong current and didn't really fish.

We got stopped by game wardens on the river,  no issues.

We quickly got off the river once a storm came brewing through.  And went to Norfork Brewery for lunch.   They had great pizza.

Cody made some great smoked trout dip.  We let it sit all day, and ate it this evening.

Took Cody's boat out to Buffalo Shoals on the White.   The guys put the boat to the test and caught a few more.

Good day all in all.
