Most are she's,  but this one has been designated as a him.  LOL.  I have completed the power head swap.  I rebuilt the carburetor,  and fuel pump.  I replaced the water impeller and components.   I have a new thermostat,  and need to install it.  I've removed the old one and cleaned off the old gasket materials from the outer head housing.    Couple other projects on the boat with family duties have kept me from completing it this far.  I also broke a steering/throttle linkage,  and have received that, just have to install it as well.

They don't become she/her until bolt threads and screw heads start stripping out, linkage pieces refuse to be aligned properly, your hands & fingers look like they've been through a meat grinder, and you suddenly realize that you've spent 3x more time & money on it than you initially planned to.

So yeah, most turn out to be SHE's.......but that's ok, it builds character. 👍

I couldn't get all the pictures to load.  Here's the fuel pump.  Much easier than I expected to be honest. 20241124_211430.jpg

I  gotta paint these and figure out a way to attach them permanently.   I do worry they may become more of a hassle then they are worth.  I want some eyes printed as well. 20241126_181300.jpg

That red spring and small white plunger goes UNDER that diaphragm.

And the paper gaskets always go next to METAL. 👍

The new ones were installed.   I'm not certain on the paper orientation.   May have to find out.

Derek, I am rooting for you.  Where are you getting parts for this?  Or did I miss mention of it?

I did not get it to start in time for Jigfest,  but I plan to get it wrapped up for Taneyfest.   I bought all of the OE parts from www.MarineEngine.com as recommended by Fishinwrench.  I did complete the transom replacement,  as well as installed a trailer hitch on my van.   I had two blind nuts that were welded into the frame break, and had to drill them out.  I had to remove the bumper to install the new replacement bolts.

Good on you Daryk. Having had to buy somebody else's junk and overhaul it to machine level was the only way I ever had a vehicle or outboard, just the way I was brought up. My life took a detour and for the last 15 years I haven't had enough spare time to change my oil. I can't really say that I miss that though...

I like your pictures too. No posing, just whacha got. Get a good scald on that motor and grab a couple extra carb & FP kits and impellers while you can, and that one could outlast you,

I can't dance like I used to.

Got that corrected.   Thanks for the tip.   I also figured out why the starter wasn't engaging.  I traced the wires,  verified voltage to the solenoid, and verified the wires were in the correct order and location.  Thankfully I took a slow video of the motor and wires.  I thought I had a bad ground.  I could disconnect the wire from the neutral safety switch,  and ground it out to get the starter to engage.   Further YouTube and forums research showed others having similar issues,  showed the switch could often be misaligned and the plunger would not activate.   Corrected that, and the starter engages.  Now to get a new battery as mine is very weak.  One step closer.
