Landowner run in on a stream near Pineville

Back in the 70’s when I was a teenager we stream hopped all the time.  Fishing was way better than anything today.   Yeah, we got kicked out of some but a few we were able to go to over and over.  We never partied or left a mess.   We just wanted to fish.

That's what has created all the problems. Not many people care about a few fishermen. But all the punks and trash and dumping. I don't blame landowners. I've lost several spots already and one is on the verge of closing. If people would just pick up after themselves then everything would be fine. But they are too stupid to do that.

Yeah anyplace open to the public is going to get trashed.  It's almost worth risking a trespassing charge just to not have to wade through empty Fireball shooters, dirty diapers, and discarded appliances.

I was thinking about this earlier. There is another place that I frequent, but it is completely covered up during the summer. Your lucky to find a parking spot much less a fish. But I rarely see any trash there. It's an MDC access. And as I think about it you don't normally see a lot of trash around MDC Acesses. Do they really have people out cleaning up after everybody? (I've never seen anyone picking up trash) Or do people who trash accesses just not go to government acceses? I mean you can't tell the difference by looking at the crowds. The one on the Finley, which is NOT an MDC access, is about the same size as the other. Same amount of people typically. Same type of crowd. But the people at the MDC access pick up their trash? I need to start asking people. These places are on different streams about 40 miles apart. Even though the fishing is pointless in the summer they are great places to take the dog for a hike. Decent parking and you can walk down the stream forever. They keep the Finley fairly clean now, (since that was one of the main complaints for getting it shut down for a while) but it's still not as clean as the other. 

Busiek is another place. State Park. Zero trash. And you haven't seen so many people on such a small creek in your life.

Interesting to read. Trash really bums me out when I see it in the Ozarks... Seeing clean nature is some of the reason I try to get out of town so much...

At the MDC access here near my place they subcontract the upkeep, which always confuses me because MDC has crews, employed by them, that mow, weedeat, ect. 

Nevertheless this crew of 2-3 guys show up bi-weekly and spend all day tidying up the place.   The same crew does the grass upkeep, leaf blowing, and parking lot sweeping at the local DG, the post office, and at the bank.   They do a fine job 👍  They even cleaned up a pile of dead stinking carp that some idiot bowfishers dumped. 

A separate local septic service tends to the outhouses.....they pump them and power wash them periodically.  

You never see MDC do anything, but drive thru occasionally.

Almost all the MDC access around here have big ruts in the parking lot where people do donuts in their trucks or four wheelers. Some of them I have seen have trash as well. Most are clean of trash, but the ones around here ALL have ruts in the parking lots though from a-holes wanting to do donuts. Just don't understand that one I guess.

             We see stuff like this around here too. Not very much larger stuff dumped but I just can't understand why they can't pick up bait containers or artificial lure bags and boxes and wal mart sacks and food containers. If you can take it out of your vehicle you can surely put it back, take it home and find a trash can.

That's what I see the most.  They really tear it up.

I never understood the intelligence of doing donuts on gravel. Must be the same people that show off by spinning their tires when the pavement is wet.
