fishinwrench Posted May 25 Posted May 25 Looks like the same model I had before the tornado. I really liked it, but went back to my old model A Thompson when the Renzetti got destroyed. I have a hangup with rotary tying. Consistent tension on the thread & material is a challenge for me. Â
tjm Posted May 25 Posted May 25 Good vise. Unless it's interfering with her health or other life areas, I wouldn't consider it a vice. I have one of those and it's nice, but like wrench I prefer the Thompson A for speed and comfort. Bought the Renzetti second hand 5-6 years ago because I'd always wanted one, and have tied only a dozen or so flies on it. The right angle between stem and shaft that lets it rotate is where I want my hand to be, too many years of using the A, I guess, but the altered hand  position is uncomfortable to me. Takes about three times as long for each fly.  BilletHead, Foghorn and Ryan Miloshewski 2 1

ness Posted May 25 Posted May 25 I’ve got the old Traveler without the cam. It’s doing the job for me. Renzetti makes good quality stuff. The Thompson A is gathering dust somewhere. BilletHead and dpitt 2 John
Foghorn Posted May 26 Posted May 26 Gave a Thompson to youngest daughter's boyfriend years ago but didn't get it back when they quit dating. Had a Regal rotary C-clamp that IÂ loaned to little brother so he could possibly tie his own flies so I use a Renzetti Traveler if we go on a trip of any duration. When is Pat going to showcase some of her tying on video?Â

Foghorn Posted May 26 Posted May 26 Those beadhead nymphs Pat tied for the last fly swap looked deadly to me! tjm and BilletHead 2
